Perché il progetto si chiama MariaDB?
Il nome 'MySQL' è un marchio registrato di Oracle, che ha scelto di tenere per sè quel nome. Il nome MySQL (come anche lo Storage Engine MyISAM) viene dalla prima figlia di Monty, "My". MariaDB continua questa tradizione, essendo chiamata come la figlia più giovane.
