Win10 1909 x64 Installation Fails
Good afternoon. I have been trying for about three days to install MariaDB v10.4.13 x64 on my new Win10 system. It will be used as the back-end for a piece of software I use for one of my hobbies.
I have the latest .msi installer downloaded from MariaDB.org. The ODBC driver is successfully installed. When I run the installer for MariaDB, I accept the defaults, set the root password, allow remote access to the database, and set UTF8 encoding as the default. The installer gets through the process of copying new files to my system. When it hits the "installing files" phase, it runs for under one second, then rolls the installation back. The screen that appears contains the following text:
"MariaDB 10.4 (x64) Setup Wizard ended prematurely - MariaDB 10.4 (x64) Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run Setup Wizard again. Click the Finish button to exit the Setup Wizard."
There are no specific errors, no MariaDB-specific logs nothing in the event logs, to suggest why this installation keeps failing. There is only one user account on this system, and it is the local admin. Firewall is disabled. Anti-virus/anti-malware is disabled. UAC is disabled. The system is fully patched/updated. I have installed numerous other applications on this system over the last few days with no issues.
I have tried numerous ways to get assistance with this issue, to no avail. I would appreciate if someone could help with troubleshooting and resolving this issue. It is preventing me from using the computer for its intended purpose.
Thank you.
