Count() function in Access 2019 (and earlier) returns erroneous counts of records.

When I build aggregate queries in MSAccess connected through the ODBC connector 3.1 to my MariaDB database and want to use the Count() function (i.e. over the primary key field) to count the records I have selected in the query, I get excessively high counts that are definitely incorrect. My workaround is to add a "counter" field with value = “1” to the underlying query or table and then rather than "count()" I use the sum() function. I have observed this for years, but I guess it might be time now to do mention this here. Please could you look into this?
