Missing module generates dnf error

Any invocation of dnf on this IBM R400 laptop, now running Fedora KDE desktop 40, generates an error message: "Modular dependency problem:

Problem: conflicting requests - nothing provides module(platform:f38) needed by module mariadb:10.9:3820230215083728:f38.x86_64 from @modulefailsafe"

This error perisists even though I have uninstalled MariaDB from the machine. I do not know how to eliminate its source.

Suggestions? Thanks.
