mariadb on Ubuntu Erro

Hi all,

I have MariaDB installed on my Ubuntu web server, (an AWS instance) with PHP & NGINX. I'm hosting a very simple Wordpress website, but it currently doesn't load anything as it says "Error establishing a database connection". When I run systemctl mariadb I get the error

● mariadb.service Loaded: not-found (Reason: No such file or directory) Active: inactive (dead)

I have confirmed that MariaDb is installed, and have tried removing and readding but this has not fixed it. Any help?
