Installing after compiling Mariadb not working.

After I compile the latest MariaDB 10 on an ARM processor (Cubietruck 3.0), I could install the libraries. However, the system doesn't have any request for a password or username like mysql. Also, I can't find a service to start mariadb.

Even worse, after a reset my board doesn't start anymore. The last statement on screen is about not finding IPV6, then it hangs.. actually this is the moment that the graphical window manager should start.

I can still open another terminal (CTRL+ALT+F1), but see nothing strange in this installation yet.

Questions:

  • How to proceed and make things work again?
  • Should I first install mysql and then install mariadb? (Because I just installed Mariadb)
  • Since I did a build and make install, how to remove this package again?

To install a non x86_64/i686 version of mariadb would involve apt-get source mariadb-server and the using the dh build mechanisms of debian to build it.

With your program you are linking look at ldd programname and readelf -a programname and check it has the same version expectations as the SONAME in the mariadb client library. If its the same version a ltrace to determine which call its failing on would be good to know. The compliance is meant to be the same about-the-mariadb-client-library-for-c so please report any problems https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/CONC
