Redirect URLs from yum.mariadb.org

Hi there,

I recently realized that yum.mariadb.org now redirects to mirror.mariadb.org - which is fine. However, the checksum files are on external domains, e.g. https://mirrors.xtom.de/mariadb/mariadb-10.6.8/yum/rhel/8/x86_64/md5sums.txt or https://ftp.nluug.nl/db/mariadb/mariadb-10.4.25/yum/rhel/7/x86_64/md5sums.txt .

Is this the expected behavior? Are these domains trustworthy? Thanks and kind regards, Gabor

Hi Gabor! We have recently implemented a mirror redirector (with the mirrorbits software) and one of the yum.mariadb.org IP points to that new service (the other one is still handled by the old yum.mariadb.org mirror).

I will blog about this new service in the next days (and probably document it correctly in the KB).

This is the normal behavior, if you are interested, you can take a look at how mirrorbits works (https://github.com/etix/mirrorbits).

Finally, and FYI, you can also pick any of the mirror from https://mariadb.org/download/?t=repo-config if you want to be sure to always use the same mirror.

Regards, Faustin
