How to modify the collation of a column?

I am trying to modify the collation of a column to be latin1_general_ci

Here is what I have:

ALTER TABLE page MODIFY COLUMN page_title <column type> latin1_general_ci

It doesn't work. please help.

Found solution: ALTER TABLE page MODIFY COLUMN page_title varchar(25) COLLATE latin1_general_ci
